Mary Greenwood, Santa Clara County Public Defender

Ms. Greenwood joined the Santa Clara County Public Defender's Office as a Deputy Public Defender in 1982. She was appointed Santa Clara County Public Defender in July 2005. She is the Chief Defender of a 100 attorney public law firm providing criminal defense services to the indigent accused, as well as the indigent mentally ill. She manages an annual budget of $37.5 million, oversees 200 employees, and represents clients in 35,000 cases annually.
